USDT TRC-20 vs ERC-20 at crypto casinos

How USDT on Tron (TRC-20) and Ethereum (ERC-20) differ in fees, speed and address format, what a wrong-network transfer means, and which casinos list which networks.

USDT on Tron (TRC-20) and USDT on Ethereum (ERC-20) are the same dollar token travelling on two different blockchains, with different addresses, fee mechanics and confirmation times. For a casino deposit or withdrawal one rule outranks everything else: use a network that the cashier lists and your wallet supports, because a transfer on the wrong network is usually unrecoverable. This guide explains how each network charges you, what “confirmed” means on each, and which of the 15 casinos we profile list USDT and on which networks.

Same token, different rails

Tether issues USD₮ on a list of blockchains it calls “transport protocols”. Its supported-protocols page currently lists Ethereum (ERC-20), Tron (TRC-20), Solana, TON, Avalanche, Polkadot AssetHub, NEAR, Tezos, Aptos, Liquid and several further EVM chains. Each is a separate ledger: a USDT balance on Tron does not exist on Ethereum, and nothing converts it between them. A casino deposit address for USDT belongs to one network, and the casino only watches that network for your payment.

The two networks look different, which is the easiest way to spot a mistake before you send:

The catch: other EVM chains – BNB Smart Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, Avalanche – use the same 0x format. A wallet cannot tell from the address whether you meant ERC-20 or BEP-20, so the network selector in the cashier and in your wallet must match. The general rules for coins versus networks are in our crypto casino payments guide; this page is only about USDT.

How each network charges you

Tron / TRC-20: bandwidth and energy, paid in TRX

Tron has no single “gas” price. Its resource model splits a transaction’s cost into Bandwidth (the byte size of the transaction) and Energy (smart-contract execution). A USDT transfer is a contract call, so it consumes both.

  • Every account gets 600 free Bandwidth per rolling 24 hours. Energy has no free quota: you stake TRX for it, have it delegated to you, or let the network burn TRX from your balance.
  • When staked or free resources do not cover the transfer, TRX is burned at chain-parameter rates – at the time of writing 1,000 sun (0.001 TRX) per byte of Bandwidth and 100 sun (0.0001 TRX) per unit of Energy (Tron, “Paying for resources”). The rates can change by governance proposal.
  • So you need some TRX in the sending wallet even though you are sending USDT. Exchanges handle this for you; a self-custody wallet holding only USDT cannot move it.
  • The first transfer to a brand-new address costs more: Tron documents an extra 25,000 Energy when a contract transfer activates a not-yet-activated address. Casino deposit addresses are normally active already; a freshly generated withdrawal address in your own wallet may not be.

Ethereum / ERC-20: gas, base fee and priority fee

Since EIP-1559, every Ethereum transaction pays a base fee set by the protocol per block – which “is burned” – plus an optional priority fee (tip) to the validator. You set a max fee; whatever is not used is refunded. The base fee rises when the previous block was fuller than its target and falls when it was emptier, by at most 12.5 % per block (ethereum.org, Gas and fees).

  • A plain ETH transfer uses 21,000 gas; a token transfer such as USDT uses considerably more because it runs contract code. The fee is gas used multiplied by the price per gas, charged whether or not the transfer succeeds.
  • Fees are paid in ETH, not USDT – again, a wallet holding only USDT cannot send it.
  • Fees are demand-driven: when the network is busy the base fee climbs block by block and users bid higher tips. A fee that is negligible on a quiet day can exceed a small deposit during congestion.

We quote no fee amounts in currency: they move with load, chain parameters and token prices, so check what your wallet quotes at the moment of sending.

Other USDT networks the casinos we profile list

Beyond ERC-20 and TRC-20, the records name BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20), Polygon and Solana as USDT routes (see below). The first two are EVM chains with 0x addresses and gas-style fees paid in their own coin; Solana has its own address format and fee model. Each is another separate rail with the same wrong-network risk.

Speed and confirmations

A deposit is not credited when you press send. The transaction must be included in a block, and the casino then waits for further blocks – “confirmations” – before it trusts the payment; the Bitcoin wiki explains why each additional block makes reversal harder. Casinos set their own confirmation counts per coin and network and show them in the cashier. Tron produces blocks every few seconds, so its count is usually reached within a minute or two. Ethereum also produces blocks in seconds, but a transaction whose max fee is below the current base fee simply waits – it is not lost, and most wallets let you resubmit with a higher fee.

Among the casinos we profile, BC.Game publishes a confirmation table in its help desk (one USDT entry requiring 6 confirmations, arrival “about 1 minute to 2 hours depending on the blockchain”, checked 5 Oct 2026); the others show counts only in the cashier. Our confirmations explainer covers why a deposit sits as pending, and casino withdrawal times explained separates the casino’s processing clock from the chain’s confirmation clock.

Which of the 15 casinos we profile list USDT, and on which networks

Everything below comes from each casino’s own payments page, help centre or terms on the date shown – it is what the casino says, not something we have tested. Where a casino lists “USDT” or “Tether” without naming a network, we say so rather than guess.

  • Shuffle – USDT on ERC-20, BEP-20, TRC-20, Polygon and Solana, deposits and withdrawals (help article “Assets supported for deposits and withdrawals”, checked 5 Oct 2026). The article warns not to deposit “USDC/USDT on unsupported chains” and that recovery cannot be guaranteed.
  • Gamdom – USDT on ERC-20, TRC-20 and BNB Smart Chain, deposits and withdrawals (“Supported Chains”, checked 5 Oct 2026); minimums only in the cashier. Players are told to “always use the network displayed on the deposit page”.
  • BC.Game – USDT on ERC-20 and TRC-20 for deposits (help article on deposit confirmations, checked 5 Oct 2026); USDT withdrawal support is not stated in the pages we could read, so we record it as not documented. The article states: “It is essential to use the specific address for either ERC20 or TRC20 when depositing USDT.”
  • mBit – USDT on ERC-20 only, per its payment-methods page (checked 6 Oct 2026): minimum deposit and cashout 10 USDT, cashout maximum 4,000 USDT per transaction.
  • Mirax – “Tether” for deposits and withdrawals, network not stated (payments page, checked 7 Oct 2026); minimum deposit 10 USDT, minimum withdrawal 20 USDT.
  • BitStarz – USDT in the FAQ currency list, network not stated in the visible page text (checked 5 Oct 2026). BitStarz is the only casino we profile with a written wrong-network rule: recovery only above 5,000 USD, for a 0.1 BTC fee, if reported within 7 days (Terms 8.6.9).
  • Roobet – USDT accepted per its help articles on crypto deposits and withdrawals, network not stated in the articles we read (checked 5 Oct 2026).
  • Betway, LeoVegas, Mr Green and 888casino – no USDT or other crypto method in the payment records; these are card, bank and e-wallet casinos.

In short: seven casinos list USDT, four name their networks (Shuffle, Gamdom, BC.Game, mBit) and three do not (Mirax, BitStarz, Roobet). At those three the network is visible only in the cashier after login – read it there before sending anything. Casino fees and withdrawal limits per casino:

How to pick the network in a casino cashier

  1. Open the cashier first, your wallet second. Select USDT and look for the network selector or the label next to the address (“USDT – TRC20”, “Tether (ERC20)”). If there is only an unlabelled address, ask support in writing which network it is.
  2. Match the network exactly in your wallet or exchange. “TRC20” goes to a T… address, “ERC20” to a 0x… address – and a 0x… address labelled BEP-20 must be sent on BNB Smart Chain, not Ethereum.
  3. Hold the fee coin: a little TRX for Tron, ETH for Ethereum (BNB, POL or SOL for the others).
  4. Send a small test amount the first time you use a casino or a network. The extra fee is cheaper than a lost deposit.
  5. Withdraw to a wallet that supports USDT on that exact network. Some casinos also apply a closed-loop rule (withdrawal back to the deposit method) – see what to do when a withdrawal is rejected.
  6. Keep the transaction ID. It is the only evidence that lets support locate an uncredited payment.

Sent USDT on the wrong network?

Once a transaction is confirmed, nobody – not you, the casino or Tether – can reverse it. What happens next depends on the pair of networks:

  • TRC-20 to an ERC-20 address, or the reverse: the formats are incompatible, so most wallets block the transfer before broadcast. If one nonetheless went through (for example via an exchange that accepted a copied address on the wrong network), the funds sit on a chain where the casino may hold no matching key. Recovery is usually not possible.
  • ERC-20 sent on another EVM network (BEP-20, Polygon, Arbitrum) to the casino’s 0x address: the same address exists on every EVM chain, so recovery is technically possible if the casino’s payment provider controls the key and is willing to sweep the other chain – manual, not guaranteed, possibly with a fee. Shuffle and Gamdom both state recovery cannot be guaranteed; BitStarz’s terms set a 5,000 USD threshold, a 0.1 BTC fee and a 7-day window (Terms 8.6.9). The other casinos we profile publish no rule.

Contact support with the transaction ID, amount, network used and network intended, and ask in writing whether recovery is offered and on what terms. Be sceptical of anyone who contacts you offering recovery for an upfront payment – a common fraud pattern.

Risks beyond fees

  • Issuer powers. USDT is a liability of a company. Tether’s legal terms state that it may freeze Tether Tokens, blacklist addresses and suspend redemptions in the circumstances described there. A stablecoin balance is not the same as Bitcoin, which has no issuer.
  • Networks get retired. Tether’s protocols page records that it is “no longer issuing or obligated to redeem” USDT on Omni Layer, Bitcoin Cash SLP, Kusama, EOS and Algorand. A supported network can be wound down later, and a casino can drop a network from its cashier at any time. Do not leave balances on a chain you no longer use.
  • Exchange lists differ from casino lists. Your real options are the overlap between the networks your exchange or wallet offers and the ones the cashier credits.
  • Casino fee versus network fee. The table above shows whether the casino itself charges for withdrawals; the network fee is separate and, where the record says it is passed on, is deducted from your withdrawal. Our payments guide separates the three kinds of fee.

A two-line decision rule

Use a network that both the cashier and your wallet list for USDT – that rule outranks every fee consideration. Between two qualifying networks, prefer the one whose fee at the moment of sending is small relative to the amount, and test first.

A cheaper fee is never a reason to move money into a casino faster or in larger amounts than you planned. Set a deposit limit before you play and withdraw before switching networks or casinos. Frequently asked questions

Which network is cheaper for USDT casino deposits?

Usually Tron (TRC-20), because its costs follow chain parameters rather than an auction for block space, while Ethereum’s base fee rises sharply under load. But Ethereum can be cheap on a quiet day, and a Tron transfer still needs TRX you must hold. Compare the fee your wallet quotes at the moment of sending, only among networks the cashier lists.

Why does my first TRC-20 transfer to a new address cost more?

Tron charges for activating an address that has never been used: a fixed 1 TRX account-creation fee for plain transfers, and an additional 25,000 Energy when a contract transfer – which a USDT transfer is – activates the address. Later transfers to the same address are cheaper.

What happens if I send USDT ERC-20 to a TRC-20 address?

Most wallets refuse because the formats differ (0x… versus T…). If a transfer still goes through, the funds land on a chain where the recipient may hold no key, and recovery is generally not possible. Among the casinos we profile only BitStarz publishes a written recovery rule, and it applies only above 5,000 USD, for a 0.1 BTC fee, within 7 days (Terms 8.6.9).

Can the casino change the network on a withdrawal?

The casino pays out on the network you select in the withdrawal form and cannot alter a transaction once broadcast. If you chose wrongly, cancel the request before processing if the cashier allows it, otherwise contact support immediately. Whether you may withdraw on a different network from the one you deposited on depends on the casino’s closed-loop rules, recorded per casino in the profiles.

Is USDT safer than Bitcoin for a casino balance?

It is more stable in price, but it carries issuer risk that Bitcoin does not: Tether can freeze tokens and retire networks under its own terms. Neither coin protects you from a casino that does not pay – for that, the licence and the casino’s documented withdrawal rules matter far more than the coin.

If a USDT transfer has been sent and is not credited, work through the payment-not-arriving checklist: it shows how to read the transaction in a block explorer before you contact support.

Conclusion

TRC-20 and ERC-20 are two delivery routes for the same dollar token, each with its own address format, fee coin and fee mechanics. TRC-20 is usually the cheaper and quicker route; ERC-20 is the network most often named in our records. Seven of the 15 casinos we profile list USDT and only four name their networks publicly – elsewhere the cashier after login is the only reliable source. Pick the network the cashier shows, match it exactly in your wallet, hold a little of the fee coin, and test with a small amount first.
