Casino licence register check: what the registers say about 15 casinos

Key findings

• 11 of 15 casinos: the licence named in the terms exists in the regulator’s public register, is active, and the exact domain is attributable to it.
• 3 of 15 (BC.Game, Gamdom, Wild.io): the licence appears only in the register run by the issuing body itself – we record this as “issuer-listed”, not as independently confirmed.
• 1 of 15 (888casino): a licence holder is published, but the register does not let us attribute the exact domain to the licence.
• 1 of 15 casinos print no licence number on their own site; the register entry had to be found through the operating company instead.
• Regulators represented: Malta Gaming Authority (5), Curaçao Gaming Authority (5), Anjouan (3), Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner (1), Tobique Gaming Commission (1). 5 casinos under a Tier-A regulator, 1 Tier B, 6 Tier C, 3 Tier D (tier definitions).
• Enforcement registers: for 9 of 15 casinos we also read the regulator’s enforcement or sanctions register and found no entry for the operator; the other regulators publish none we could read.

The data

How we checked

For each casino we (1) copied the licence number and operating company from the binding terms and the footer, (2) opened the regulator’s public register and searched for the licence number and the company, (3) read the register status and the list of approved domains where the register publishes one, and (4) where the regulator publishes an enforcement or sanctions register, searched it for the operator. Each step is a captured source (“receipt”) with a date; the profile of each casino shows them. Findings follow Methodology v1.6: “confirmed” needs an active entry and a domain match in a register the regulator maintains; a register maintained by the issuing body itself counts only as “issuer-listed”.

What this dataset does not show

• A confirmed licence says the casino is regulated by that authority. It says nothing about how the casino treats players; see each profile and the reputation section there.
• Registers change. Each row carries the date we read it; a later change is not reflected until the next re-check, which the profile logs.
• “Not determinable” means the register does not publish the field, not that something is wrong.
• Only casinos with a published research profile are included; casinos still in research are not in this dataset.

Questions

Why is a licence listed only in the issuer’s register not “confirmed”?

Because the body that sells the licence also runs the register, there is no independent record to check against. We show the entry, label it “issuer-listed”, and do not treat it as independently verified.

What does “domain match not confirmed” mean?

The regulator publishes the licence holder but no list of approved domains, or the domain you actually play on is not among those listed. The licence may well cover it; we simply cannot show it from the register.
