SmarterCasinos is edited by its founder, Torben Noé. This page sums up the rules we work by. The detailed scoring rules are in the Methodology.
How facts are sourced and dated
- Every fact on a casino profile comes with its source, an evidence level – for example "verified", "stated by the casino" or "reported by players" – and the date we last checked it.
- We read the casino's own terms, its payment and help pages and the regulator's register. Where the casino states something that we cannot confirm, the profile says "Casino says" instead of presenting it as verified.
- Where something could not be verified or the casino does not publish it, we say so. Missing information never earns points.
- We have not deposited, played, completed identity checks or withdrawn at the casinos we describe, and we don't claim otherwise. If we ever measure something ourselves, it will be documented and labelled as such.
Second review before first publication
A casino profile is published only after its record has been checked a second time against the sources and the publication checklist. Changes after publication are checked the same way.
How corrections are recorded
When a published fact is wrong or outdated, we correct it and record the change in the review history at the bottom of the casino profile, with the date and what changed. We do not change facts silently. If a correction changes a score, the score is recalculated from the corrected record – never adjusted by hand. The methodology itself is locked; a genuine flaw is released as a new, documented version (see Changes).
Independence from commissions
At present SmarterCasinos has no affiliate relationship with any casino and the website contains no affiliate links. If that changes, commercial links will be clearly labelled, and a commission can never influence the facts we publish, the Smarter Score, the order of casinos, the verification status or a warning. The scoring system does not read commercial data. Details are on the Affiliate disclosure page.
Player reviews
Player reviews are written by visitors about their own experience. Every review is read by a person before it appears. We remove abuse, advertising, spam and personal data about other people – not criticism – and we do not edit review text. Reviews never change the Smarter Score and are never presented as something we verified.
