Casino restricted countries: the lists 15 casinos publish in their own terms

Key findings

• 14 of 15 casinos name restricted countries in the documents we read; 888casino: source not accessible to us. The lists hold 1267 casino–country entries in total.
• The lists differ widely in length: from 11 entries (LeoVegas) to 229 (Mirax Casino); the median list has 51. A short list is not a sign of wider availability – it only shows what the casino chose to write down.
• Named by every casino with a list: 1 country (United States). Most common entries overall: United States (14 of 14), Iran (13 of 14), North Korea (12 of 14), Syria (12 of 14), Cuba (11 of 14).
• 9 of the 257 countries and territories that appear anywhere are named by a single casino only.
• 6 of 14 lists end with an open clause such as “any other jurisdiction where participation is unlawful” (BC.Game, Guts, LeoVegas, Mr Green, Rizk, Shuffle) – those lists are explicitly not exhaustive.
• 15 of 15 casinos publish no list of countries they do accept; 4 of them instead state that players are accepted only “where online gambling is allowed by law” and leave the check to the player. We never read a country’s absence from a restricted list as acceptance.
• Source: 12 of 14 lists come from the binding terms alone; the rest combine the terms with a help-centre article or an AML policy. Every row carries the document, the clause where we could identify it, and the date we read it.

The data

Countries most often named as restricted

Counted from the 14 published lists above (named by at least 7 of 14). A country absent from this table is not accepted anywhere by implication; it simply appears on fewer lists.

How we checked

For each casino we read the binding terms and, where the terms point to one, the help-centre article or AML policy that lists restricted jurisdictions, and recorded every named country or territory as an ISO 3166 code (sub-national areas such as Bonaire or Crimea keep a sub-code). Only explicitly named places are recorded; wrappers such as “and its territories”, “all FATF-listed countries” or “any jurisdiction where participation is unlawful” are noted as an open clause, not expanded into codes. We then looked for an affirmative statement of accepted countries – a list, a country selector at sign-up, or an “all except the restricted list” sentence – and recorded whether one exists. Following Methodology v1.6, a country missing from a restricted list is never recorded as accepted. No account was opened, no geo-block was circumvented; where a page showed a region notice to our session we recorded that instead.

What this dataset does not show

• This is what each casino writes, not what it enforces. A casino can block a country it does not list, serve one it lists, or change the list without notice; the row date tells you when we read it.
• Nothing here says a country is accepted. Whether you may play from where you are depends on local law and on the casino’s checks at withdrawal, not on this table.
• Lists that end with an open clause are incomplete by their own wording.
• Market-specific sites of the same brand (for example separate .uk, .de or .se domains with their own terms) are outside this record; the row covers the domain in the “domain” column only.
• Only casinos with a published research profile are included.

Questions

Is a casino available in my country if the country is not on its restricted list?

Not necessarily. The lists say only where the casino states it cannot accept players. None of the casinos in this dataset publishes a list of countries it does accept, and several lists end with an open clause. Local law and the casino’s own checks at sign-up or withdrawal decide – this table does not.

Why do the lists differ so much in length?

Because each casino writes its own. The shortest list in this dataset has 11 entries and the longest 229. A long list often enumerates every jurisdiction the operator’s compliance team excluded; a short one names a handful and adds a general clause. Neither tells you more about where the casino actually operates.

No. This page is a dataset. Casino links on our site are shown only on the profile pages and never to visitors in a country the casino restricts or where such advertising is not permitted.
