How we make money today
Currently, we don't. At launch, SmarterCasinos has no affiliate relationships with any casino and the website contains no affiliate links. We receive no payment, commission, free credit or other benefit from any casino we describe. Links to casino websites, where they appear, are ordinary links for reference.
This page will be updated as soon as that changes.
How future commercial relationships would work
Running independent research costs money. In the future, SmarterCasinos may enter into commercial agreements with casinos or affiliate programmes – for example to offer readers a negotiated deal or to earn a commission when a reader signs up or deposits through one of our links. If we do:
- Every commercial link and every commercial offer will be clearly labelled (for example "AD" or "Sponsored") at the place where it appears.
- Commercial links will be marked as sponsored for search engines.
- This page will list the kind of relationships we have.
- No commercial offer will be shown for casinos that are not eligible under our Methodology, or in countries where promoting gambling is prohibited.
Where our link takes you
At the moment no link on SmarterCasinos is an affiliate link. If that changes, this is what a link marked as an advertisement means:
- It takes you to the website of the casino itself, where you decide whether to sign up. SmarterCasinos is not the casino and does not hold your account or money.
- The link can be an affiliate link: SmarterCasinos may receive a commission if you register or deposit.
- The price and the offer you get do not change because you used our link. Public offers are the casino’s own terms.
- An affiliate relationship never changes the Smarter Score, a warning or the result of a review. The scoring system does not read commercial data.
- A link is only shown where the casino is eligible under our methodology and where promoting gambling is allowed. 18+ · Gambling involves risk.
Research and money are kept apart
Commercial data is stored and handled separately from our research data. Our scoring system does not read commercial data. This means that whether or how much a casino pays us can never influence:
- the facts we publish or their evidence level,
- the Verification status,
- Data Confidence,
- the Smarter Score or any score cap,
- watch-outs and warnings,
- the order of casinos in any list sorted by score.
How scores are calculated is published in our Methodology.
What we will never do
- Sell rankings or positions.
- Sell scores, Verification status or better ratings.
- Remove, soften or delay a warning, watch-out or negative finding in exchange for money or any other benefit.
- Claim we tested, deposited, played or withdrew at a casino when we have not.
- Promote gambling to people who have excluded themselves, or in markets where such promotion is prohibited.
