Rakeback explained: how crypto casino rakeback works

What rakeback is, how the arithmetic works with worked examples, and how Roobet, Gamdom and BC.Game describe it in their own words.

“Rakeback” is a word casinos use for money paid back as a share of what you wager. It is not a win, not a refund of losses and not a gift: it only reduces what playing costs on average. This guide explains how the casinos we profile describe it, how the numbers work (with clearly hypothetical examples), and which conditions decide whether it is worth anything. Nothing here is a recommendation of an offer.

Short answer

Rakeback is a percentage-based return linked to your betting volume. Casinos define it in their own words, so the base differs: Roobet describes Instant Rakeback as “a percentage of your wagered amount”; BC.Game publishes a formula that ties it to the game’s house edge. Both are the casino’s own statements – we do not make deposits or test payouts, and we have not measured any rakeback ourselves. Every figure about a real casino below carries the label “casino says” and a check date.

How the numbers work

Every casino game has a house edge: the share of each stake the casino keeps on average over a very large number of bets. A 2 % house edge does not mean you lose 2 % of your balance in a session – it describes the long-run average. Rakeback sits on top of that average. The examples below use made-up numbers to show the arithmetic; they are not any casino’s rates.

  • Percentage of wagers. You place bets totalling 2,000 USDT (the sum of all stakes, not your balance). A rakeback of 0.5 % of the wagered amount returns 2,000 × 0.005 = 10 USDT, win or lose.
  • Formula tied to the house edge (BC.Game’s published form). BC.Game’s help article states: “Rakeback = Wagered Amount × House Edge × 1%”. With 2,000 USDT wagered on a game with a 2 % house edge: 2,000 × 0.02 × 0.01 = 0.40 USDT. The average loss at that edge would be 2,000 × 0.02 = 40 USDT, so this formula returns 1 % of the average loss.
  • What it does to the cost of playing. At a 2 % house edge, 2,000 USDT wagered costs 40 USDT on average. A 0.5 % rakeback (10 USDT) lowers that to 30 USDT – the effective edge is 1.5 %. It is still a cost; rakeback never turns a game with a house edge into a profitable one.
  • Cashback is different. Some casinos instead pay a share of net losses over a period. With 10 % cashback and 200 USDT of net losses you would get 20 USDT; if the period ends with a win, you get nothing. The two products are easy to confuse, so check which base the casino uses.

Real conditions can change the picture: a cap, a minimum, a claim window, a lock until you wager more, or excluded games. Those are exactly the things the table below records.

How the casinos we profile describe it

Only casinos whose current offer is a rakeback product appear here. The text is the casino’s own statement, recorded with a check date; where a casino’s own pages give conflicting percentages we show none.

Rakeback and deposit bonuses usually do not mix

Roobet’s Bonus and Promotion Policy, as recorded in our review, says there is no rakeback while a deposit-bonus wagering requirement is active (clause 5.5). BC.Game’s help article says new rakeback only unlocks once existing locked rakeback has been claimed, and Gamdom’s Rewards FAQ (read in a browser on 12 Oct 2026) says “Rakeback isn’t generated while you’re completing wager requirements from deposit bonuses.” Taking a deposit bonus can therefore pause the rakeback you were counting on. Our guide to casino bonus terms explains wagering requirements, time limits and maximum bets.

What can change without notice

Two clauses we recorded matter more than any percentage. Roobet’s policy lets it change or remove a bonus or rakeboost “at any time” (clauses 4.1 and 5.28). Gamdom’s welcome-offer terms say it may edit or terminate the promotion without prior notice (item 7), and items 3–6 of those terms were not shown on the page when we checked. Both are documented as findings on the profiles and in our terms-clauses dataset. A rakeback rate you see today is not a promise about tomorrow.

Checklist before you rely on rakeback

  1. Find the base. Percentage of wagers, share of the house edge, or share of net losses? The base decides everything.
  2. Find the claim rule. Automatic, or claimed on a rewards page within a window (Gamdom’s welcome boost must be claimed within 6 hours of registration, and the casino’s own pages describe how it is activated in two different ways)?
  3. Check locks and stacking. Is part of it locked until you wager more? Does a deposit bonus pause it?
  4. Check the cap, expiry and excluded games. If the casino does not publish them, treat the offer as incomplete.
  5. Do the arithmetic with your own volume. Wagered amount × rate, then compare with what you would normally stake.
  6. Read the change clause. If the casino can change or remove the offer at any time, do not plan around it.

Questions about rakeback

Is rakeback the same as cashback?

Not necessarily. Rakeback is linked to your betting volume (or to the house edge on it); cashback is usually a share of net losses over a period. The casino’s own description decides which one applies – check the base in its terms.

Does rakeback make a casino game profitable?

No. It reduces the average cost of playing but does not remove the house edge. In the example above, a 0.5 % rakeback lowers a 2 % house edge to an effective 1.5 %.

Why do some casinos show different rakeback percentages on different pages?

Offers can differ by player segment, stage or date, and pages are not always updated together. When a casino’s own pages disagree we do not promote either figure; BC.Game is the current example in our records.

Is rakeback part of the Smarter Score?

No. Offers and bonuses are never part of the Smarter Score, and commissions can never change it. See how the score is made.

Rakeback is not a reason to play more

A return on your wagers can nudge people to bet more to “earn” more. The average cost of play stays positive for the casino at every volume. Set a limit before you start and keep to it. Responsible gambling. 18+ · T&Cs of the casino apply.
