If gambling stops being fun, the strongest step is a self-exclusion. There are two kinds, and they reach very different numbers of casinos. This guide explains the difference and lists the official national services for the 11 markets our country pages cover – each link checked on 2 Nov 2026.
Two kinds of self-exclusion
- At one casino. You lock your account in the casino’s responsible-gambling settings or ask support to do it. It covers that casino and, depending on its policy, sometimes its sister brands. Every other casino stays open to you. Our responsible gambling tools guide compares what each casino we profile offers.
- Through a national register. Several countries run one register for the whole regulated market. A single registration applies to every operator licensed in that country – they have to check the register before letting you play. It does not reach casinos licensed somewhere else.
That second point matters most for crypto casinos and other offshore sites: a casino licensed in Curaçao, Anjouan or Malta does not take part in a national register of another country, so a national registration alone does not block it. Combine both steps, and consider blocking software on your devices.
Official services by country
National self-exclusion registers and free help services, from the regulator or a public body. The last column shows how many casinos we review are verified available in that market (regulator register plus the casino’s own market terms); the country name links to the country page where it lists at least two.
Links checked 2026-10-15. Every service is free and independent of any casino.

Before you register
- Check the duration. National registers offer fixed periods or an indefinite lock; some cannot be ended early. Read the service’s own page before you choose.
- Withdraw your balance first. A self-exclusion closes or locks accounts; the terms decide how and when remaining money is paid out. Our guide to closed accounts explains what usually happens.
- Tell the casinos you use abroad. For each casino outside the national scheme, self-exclude directly in your account.
- Get support. The help services in the table are free and confidential; our responsible gambling page lists further international resources.
Frequently asked questions
Does a national self-exclusion block every online casino?
No. It blocks the operators licensed in that country. Casinos licensed elsewhere – including most crypto casinos – are not connected to it, so you need to self-exclude at each of them as well.
Is a casino’s own self-exclusion enough?
It is a good first step, but it only covers that casino and, at most, its own group. If you play at several sites, use the national register where one exists and lock each remaining account.
Can I end a self-exclusion early?
It depends on the service and the period you chose. Many registers do not allow early removal of a fixed period; check the official page of the service before registering.
Why is a country missing from the table?
The table covers the 11 markets of our country pages and only lists services whose official page we could open and identify. Where a national register exists but its page was not reachable when we checked, it is left out rather than linked blindly.
